Introduced in 2020, the One Region Forward Learning Series is part of ongoing efforts to support local action around the One Region Forward Plan’s vision. Each session focuses on a topic related to One Region Forward’s implementation agenda and includes information, resources, and case studies on how ideas can move into implementation at the local level.


 

Learning Session 5: How can land banks turn vacancy into value?

Learn how land banks can return distressed, vacant, abandoned, and tax-delinquent properties to productive use and convert them into assets for your community.

Learn how area municipalities have successfully partnered with local land banks to address problem properties.

Regional experts on foreclosure will share strategies to prevent and address “zombie homes.”

A panel of speakers will answer all of your questions about land banks and zombie homes.

TRAINING CERTIFICATES AND CONTINUING EDUCATION

This event qualifies for two hours of training credit toward meeting the NYS mandatory training requirement for local planning and zoning officials. Attendance certificates will be available for all participants.
CM Credits for AICP members are pending.

AICP members can earn Certification Maintenance (CM) credits for this activity [or many activities at this event]. When CM credits are available, they are noted at the end of an activity description. More information about AICP’s CM program can be found at http://www.planning.org/cm.

Due to public health concerns related to COVID-19, Learning Session 1 was rescheduled from March 20, 2020 to May 15, 2020. Originally planned as a half-day in-person event, the session was transitioned to webinar format.
